Founded in 2004, ArealMedia celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, with a presence in the photography and printing market.
Based in the city of Braga, Portugal, ArealMedia was born from the dream of two friends at the end of their university studies. Pedro Veloso and Hugo Marques are the two founders of the company and quickly realized that the world of photography and printing would be the path to follow. They soon noticed many gaps in this sector and decided that finding solutions would be the plan to pursue.
HOW EVERYTHING STARTED
Twenty years ago, Portugal experienced a great boom in websites and corporate presence on the internet. It was in the creation of websites that ArealMedia began its activity.
From more generalist websites, the focus quickly shifted to the photography business, with the creation of sites tailored to the needs of photographers, aimed at online sales.
At the time, websites for photographers were groundbreaking in the Portuguese photographic business landscape. ArealMedia became a reference company in the world of photography in Portugal.
Daily contact with photography professionals allowed ArealMedia to identify the real needs of this market. Identifying a business opportunity and starting to design innovative and surprising solutions in this area.
A NEW SOFTWARE
With the aim of growth, visits and contacts with printing companies began. The idea of creating software that could be easily used by amateur clients and later printed by large printing companies started to be considered.
A new software was born and the shift to another business area began, marking the decline of custom-made websites and the start of investment in new software.
In search of knowledge and new markets, ArealMedia has been a regular presence at fairs and events dedicated to photography around the world.
After five years, the right path was being traced: the creation of the best software for digital album design.
ADIGITALBOOK IS BORN
In 2009, Adigital Book was born, and in the same year, it was presented at the PMA – Photo Marketing Association fair in Las Vegas. This year marked the beginning of a new era at ArealMedia, with the entire team dedicated to working harder on new and better features.
With a regular presence at major photography and printing fairs, ArealMedia increasingly showcases AdigitalBook, which gains ground and becomes more and more renowned.
SUNPICS THE PREMIUM PRODUT
With an eye on the future and aiming to improve the platform, the ArealMedia team transitioned to HTML5 and in 2013 introduced the new Sunpics powered by Adigitalbook.
The new Sunpics became ArealMedia’s premium product. Today, it can be found spread across 5 continents, generating business every day and increasing the sales of its clients, being an undisputed success.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. It will be a year full of celebrations, but also of hard work and innovations in Sunpics.
